In 2015, Amazon quietly launched a new division called Handmade at Amazon. This division was for people who make/sell handmade art, crafts, jewelry, baby items, clothing, handbags, stationery, toys and other items. If you’ve ever heard of Etsy, this is a similar idea, only on Amazon’s huge platform.
Since then, Amazon Handmade has been growing nicely. If you are looking for a unique gift for a birthday, Christmas, or other special occasions, consider checking out Amazon Handmade. There are hundreds of amazingly talented artists and craftspeople who make beautiful and unique items by hand.
Amazon Handmade Tips
Keep in mind that since these items are handmade, some items make take a few extra days or even weeks to create and send to you. In most cases, these are not mass-produced items. So, if you are considering something handmade as a gift, be sure to give yourself plenty of time. Of course, there are some items on Handmade at Amazon that are available to ship immediately. But, not everything is.
When the Christmas season rolls around again, I know many artisans will get overwhelmed quickly and may have to stop taking orders by early December so that they have time to actually make and ship everything before the holiday. So, be sure to order early! You don’t want to miss out on a beautiful and unique gift because you procrastinated.
Support Small Businesses
Plus, by shopping Amazon Handmade, you are much more likely to be supporting a small business. Sure, it’s on Amazon’s platform and Amazon isn’t a small business. But those of us who sell on Amazon Handmade typically are. Many of us are one-person shops who use these sales to support our families.
